Arsenal are preparing to make a move for Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, with negotiations regarding his release clause currently underway.

Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke, speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, revealed that Leipzig is attempting to remove the release clause from Sesko’s contract, complicating the deal. The 21-year-old’s release clause is reportedly valued at £42.5 million.

Mikel Arteta is eager to strengthen Arsenal’s attacking lineup alongside Kai Havertz for the next season, with Sesko being his primary target. Viktor Gyokeres, 25, has also drawn attention, but Sporting CP’s high asking price may deter the Gunners.

Football Insider initially reported on May 23 that Arsenal planned to secure Sesko’s transfer before the end of June, when his release clause is set to expire.

### Arsenal Push for Benjamin Sesko Deal After New Developments

Sesko joined RB Leipzig in a £20 million transfer from RB Salzburg in 2023. He has impressed in his first year, scoring 18 goals in 42 appearances, catching the eye of several potential buyers. Fourteen of his goals came in the Bundesliga, where he made 31 appearances, and he also netted 11 times in 28 games for his national team, Slovenia.

Despite a slow start, scoring just two goals in his first 15 league games for Leipzig, Sesko’s form surged towards the season’s end. He found the net in each of his last seven games and contributed either a goal or an assist in all but three of Leipzig’s final 16 Bundesliga matches.

This impressive end-of-season performance has drawn attention from Arteta and Arsenal, among other European clubs. The Gunners are now determined to secure his signature.

Arteta’s team has faced well-documented struggles in the attacking department, despite Havertz’s late-season form. Sesko is seen as the ideal solution to address Arsenal’s striker issues.
