Exclusive: Man Utd is considering a £50 million signing, and an existing player would be perfect to ease him in, according to a specialist

The defense of the Red Devils needs some adjustments. Players like Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof appear to have questionable futures, Jonny Evans is undoubtedly not a long-term solution, and even Raphael Varane is getting older.

Johnson claims that Todibo appears to be a viable choice for Manchester United, but he won’t come cheap and might demand a cost of at least £50 million, if not more, after restarting his career with Nice.

When the Frenchman was younger, he had a difficult time at Barcelona. Now that Johnson feels he’s prepared to try again at a big club, United would be wise to sign him and use Varane’s experience to help him get comfortable at Old Trafford

 It would be interesting to observe what type of effect that would have on Raphael Varane, as Jean-Clair Todibo is rumored to be one of Manchester United’s center-back targets for 2024, Johnson added.

The former Real Madrid player will reach 31 later this season, but I don’t believe Todibo will replace his fellow Frenchman in the long run. If anything, Varane might be a helpful presence to aid with Todibo’s adjustment, and players like Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof might discover that their position on the team is more vulnerable as a result of his arrival.

 There may be room for Todibo, though it’s important to note that he will be expensive. “We know that Maguire isn’t having the best relationship with Erik ten Hag, even though there may have been some improvement recently, and Lindelof’s contract is about to expire, even though there is an option to extend it. We’re most likely talking about at least £50 million, if not slightly more.

Nice has had a strong start to the Ligue 1 season and are now doing fairly well. Todibo, of course, wants to play at the best level now that he is a full-fledged France international.

 “I don’t see a move happening in January, but depending on how Nice’s season plays out, a summer move might be in the works. Todibo is undoubtedly a sought-after prospect right now, not only from United but also from a lot of other elite teams across Europe.

“Premium teams have been observing him, and he appears prepared for that kind of transition—one that he may have made a little too soon when he joined Barcelona in his early career. After struggling there and spending time on loan at Schalke and Benfica before settling down at Nice, he is now in a much better position at the end of the year, when he will be 24 years old.
