Chelsea are on the verge of securing their second summer transfer, edging out Newcastle United. Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Chelsea. The 22-year-old impressed with 10 goals in 19 Premier League appearances for Palace in the 2023-24 season, attracting interest from top clubs including Manchester United, Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs reports that Newcastle have been priced out of a move for the £60 million-rated player. Olise had previously agreed to join Chelsea last summer, but the deal did not materialize. Now, he has verbally agreed to terms with Chelsea again. According to GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea are in discussions with Palace regarding the scheduling of payments for Olise’s release clause, which is understood to be over £60 million.

Olise spent seven years at Chelsea’s academy before moving to Manchester City and Reading, from where he joined Palace in 2021. Although Manchester United retain an interest in Olise, they might take some solace in the fact that Chelsea previously failed to finalize a deal for him.

Despite likely missing out on Olise, Newcastle United are still in the market for a right winger this summer. They have shown interest in West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen, although he might also be too expensive for them. Newcastle are also evaluating 19-year-old Yankuba Minteh, who had a successful loan spell at Feyenoord, scoring 11 goals. Minteh is valued at £40 million by Newcastle, who are now considering his future.
