Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on acquiring Bayern Munich forward Bryan Zaragoza during the upcoming summer transfer window. Zaragoza’s journey to Bayern began with a loan move from Spanish outfit Granada in January 2024, with the deal expected to be made permanent in the summer. However, the transition has been challenging for Zaragoza, who has only managed two appearances for Bayern, totaling a mere 35 minutes of playing time. According to El Nacional, his struggles are compounded by a lack of fluency in German or English.

Consequently, both Zaragoza and Bayern are exploring the possibility of parting ways in the summer, and Barcelona has emerged as a potential destination. The Catalans had expressed interest in Zaragoza during his tenure at Granada but were unable to meet the asking price, estimated between €15-20 million. Now, Barcelona aims to secure Zaragoza’s services on an initial loan basis, with an option to buy, with the total fee not exceeding €20 million. While Zaragoza is keen to return to Spain, the outcome hinges on negotiations between the two clubs.

Before joining Bayern, the 22-year-old enjoyed a fruitful spell at Granada, amassing 58 senior appearances and contributing 11 goals and three assists. However, Zaragoza isn’t the sole Bayern player on Barcelona’s radar; they have also been linked with Joshua Kimmich, whose contract expires in 2025, fueling speculation of a potential summer departure.

In other news, Barcelona is gearing up to face Las Palmas in La Liga, with manager Xavi confirming that key players Ilkay Gundogan and Robert Lewandowski will not be rested for the upcoming fixture. Despite accumulating significant playing time, both players are deemed fit and ready to contribute. Xavi praised Gundogan’s exceptional season, highlighting his invaluable contributions on and off the pitch. The German midfielder has been instrumental for Barcelona this season, tallying impressive numbers and serving as a linchpin for the team. Similarly, Lewandowski’s impact has been significant, with his prolific goal-scoring record and wealth of experience bolstering Barcelona’s attack.

With the race for the La Liga title intensifying, Barcelona cannot afford to rest on their laurels, especially with a crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain looming on the horizon. As such, Xavi is determined to field his strongest lineup against Las Palmas, with Gundogan and Lewandowski poised to play pivotal roles in Barcelona’s pursuit of silverware this season.
