Liverpool rallied from behind to secure a crucial 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield, keeping their Premier League title aspirations alive.

The match saw Mohamed Salah’s decisive strike midway through the second half, sealing the win for the Reds after Luis Diaz had earlier equalized Danny Welbeck’s early opener.

Despite an early setback, Liverpool responded admirably, though they initially struggled to convert their chances. Salah narrowly missed the target with a trademark curler before misfiring a volley from a well-placed pass by Alexis Mac Allister. However, Diaz capitalized on a defensive error to level the score with a composed finish.

Throughout the first half, Liverpool created several opportunities but failed to capitalize on them. Salah missed a golden opportunity when he shot straight at Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen after a swift counter-attack. Nonetheless, the teams went into halftime level.

In the second half, Liverpool dominated proceedings, intensifying their pursuit of a winning goal. Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez threatened Brighton’s defense, but it was Salah who ultimately broke the deadlock, finishing off a fluid team move orchestrated by Dominik Szoboszlai and Mac Allister.

Liverpool came close to extending their lead, with Diaz’s effort ruled out for offside and Salah denied by Verbruggen on a counter-attack. However, Brighton posed a late threat, with Caoimhin Kelleher making a crucial save to deny Lewis Dunk’s powerful header.

Despite a nervy moment when Adam Lallana’s shot narrowly missed the target, Liverpool held on for the victory, securing three valuable points in front of a record league attendance of 60,061.

The win reaffirmed Liverpool’s determination in the title race, as they continue to pursue leaders Real Madrid with nine games remaining in the season.
