La Liga has reportedly enlisted the services of a lip-reader to probe an alleged insult by Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham towards Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood during a clash with Getafe on February 1. Bellingham is said to have referred to the on-loan Getafe attacker as a ‘rapist.’ Getafe has formally filed a complaint with La Liga, prompting the Spanish football governing body to engage an expert lip-reader in the investigation.

Jeremy Freeman, a professional lip-reader, shared his analysis with the Daily Mail, asserting a 97% confidence that Bellingham used the word ‘rapist.’ Freeman considered visual cues of the lips, detecting the presence of ‘R’ and ‘P’ sounds, and noted a pronounced Brummie accent, contributing to his interpretation. Freeman expressed a high level of certainty in his conclusion, citing the clarity of visual markers and the absence of alternative interpretations.
