BREAKING NEWS: Reported by Fabrizio Romano, former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea rejected a chance to make a shock return with Premier League club as there’s a growing believe that he might be called back to the club with the new administration looking to axe Onana from the number one Position. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be ready to give the former united shot-stopper a short term contract to bring him back to the club.
David De Gea, the former custodian for Manchester United, was signed by Nottingham Forest in an audacious free transfer.
During the January transfer window, Nottingham Forest actively pursued a new goalkeeper and approached David De Gea with an offer to join them at the City Ground, as reported by The Athletic. Expressing dissatisfaction with their existing goalkeeping options, which included Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos, Forest explored possibilities with a total of seven goalkeepers, including the experienced Spanish shot-stopper.
Despite their efforts, the report reveals that De Gea declined the short-term offer presented by Nottingham Forest. Subsequently, Forest secured the services of Matz Sels in a transfer deal valued at an initial £5.1 million.
David De Gea has been without a club since parting ways with Manchester United in the summer. Despite his lengthy and dedicated service to the Red Devils, the club chose not to extend his contract. Instead, they opted for Andre Onana as his replacement, a decision that has been met with disappointment as Onana’s performances have been marked by several mistakes leading directly to goals.
De Gea’s departure from Manchester United after nearly 12 years at the club, amassing over 500 appearances and numerous trophies, left many, including the Spanish goalkeeper himself, disheartened due to the perceived lack of respect in the manner of his exit.
