BREAKING NEWS: coming live this evening from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are ready to sell one of their best player this season to rivals Tottenham in a move that could allow the Blues to pursue a deal for Victor Osimhen during the January transfer window. Todd Boehly has made Osimhen his number one target and is willing to do anything to bring the Nigerian star to Stamford Bridge.

Spurs have long been interested in Gallagher; in the summer, the London team laid the groundwork for a potential transfer for the England midfielder.

Chelsea was reluctant to let the player leave at that point, but Mauricio Pochettino’s team is now accepting offers because there has been little progress in getting Gallagher a new contract—he only has 18 months left on his current one—and because Financial Fair Play required them to sell before they could buy.

According to Sky Sports, a deal with Tottenham—who aren’t exactly rich—may be reached whereby Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is sold to Atletico Madrid or Juventus in order to raise the necessary funds for a move.

It’s even said that a straight swap with Gallagher is a possibility.

At Chelsea, Osimhen in, Gallagher out?
Chelsea has set an asking price of €62 million (£45 million) for the player. It is evident that they are prioritising adding more firepower to their squad, even though it is unclear if they would want to replace Gallagher numerically.

This season, Nicolas Jackson has not given the Blues the confidence in front of goal that they may have hoped for, and their star summer acquisition, Christopher Nkunku, has only played once, in the midweek Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle, due to injury issues.

The player that the Blues seem to have their sights set on the most is Napoli forward Osimhen, although it is known that securing a deal for the star Nigerian international will not be easy halfway through the season.

Osimhen, who has seven Serie A goals in 12 games this season, is set to sign a new deal with Napoli that will secure his spot in the team until the summer, when a minimum fee release clause will allow him to leave.

It is hoped that they can sign him before rivals Arsenal, but the summer would be a more reasonable deadline.

However, considering that Gallagher is expected to cost between €130 and €140 million, it would be a welcome addition to their Osimhen pot if they could raise around €60 million by selling him to Tottenham.
