Toney is currently serving a footballing ban after pleading guilty to over 200 betting breaches earlier this year, but will be able to make his return in January.

The 28-year-old has been strongly linked to a move during the winter transfer window, but Brentford hasn’t ruled out the prospect of him remaining in the organisation.

According to some reports, Chelsea is instead focusing on making a move for Victor Osimhen and has abandoned Toney.

Toney is still a top target, according to Bobby Vincent of Football.London, who also disclosed that Chelsea is “strongly considering making a big-money offer to Brentford in the January transfer window.”

The Blues’ chances of acquiring Toney have improved after it was exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers that Tottenham Hotspur has given up on the former England international in favour of chasing Barcelona winger Raphinha.

The Brazilian, who transferred from Leeds United to Barcelona last summer, is expected to fetch €70 million from the Blaugrana.

However, Football.London reports that Chelsea has not given up on signing Toney and is still interested in obtaining the Brentford player, even though they are now concentrating on Osimhen.
