DEVASTATING NEWS: Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea centre-back will leave the club this January as the club are trying to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations and reduce salaries, and this will see a lot of Chelsea first players leave the club or take a pay cut.

The Blues’ intense involvement in each window, which included some record-breaking acquisitions and a massive player purge to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations and reduce salaries, has been a hallmark of Todd Boehly’s ownership.

The most recent manager assigned to right the ship at Stamford Bridge is Mauricio Pochettino, but he too may run into problems if those in charge keep shifting the goals regarding the players the Argentinean will have at his disposal.

Though Fabrizio Romano mentioned in an exclusive interview with footballwave for his Daily Briefing column, there appears to be some truth to the rumours of interest in Benoit Badiashile. However, Badiashile is another center-back who will be leaving Chelsea this winter.

“Guys, I hear that Trevoh Chalobah is still the only center-back expected to leave Chelsea,” he remarked.

“Chelsea is definitely not thinking about selling Badiashile cheaply because they made a significant financial investment in him last year.

“It’s true that Milan values the player, but for Chelsea right now, the plan is very clear; Trevoh Chalobah is the only player leaving in January.”

Apart from a few key players in the Blues roster, there is a school of thinking that says that others have a sale price and that, should Boehly be interested, he will take advantage of it given what has transpired in prior windows.

The degree to which Pochettino can steer the narrative in terms of purchases and sales rather than acting as the club’s agent may indicate how strong his personal position is at the team.

In any case, Badiashile is still a Chelsea player for the time being.
