The first significant departure from Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot appears imminent, just days after the Dutchman’s appointment.

Slot had been widely tipped to replace Jurgen Klopp since reports emerged in April. Klopp endorsed Slot by creating a new chant for him during his emotional farewell at Anfield on Sunday.

On Monday, Liverpool officially announced Slot as the new manager, confirming he will formally take over on June 1, pending a work permit.

Thiago Alcantara, Adrian, and Joel Matip are also set to leave Liverpool along with Klopp. Additionally, there are indications of another potential exit.

Wayne Veysey of Football Insider reports that Caoimhin Kelleher is seeking a move away this summer. The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper has had his best season in terms of game time, making 26 starts in all competitions during the 2023/24 campaign.

Kelleher played every minute in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup victory, including the 1-0 final win over Chelsea at Wembley in February. However, Alisson Becker reclaimed the starting goalkeeper position after recovering from injury in April and is expected to remain first-choice under Slot.

Consequently, Kelleher would continue as the backup to Alisson but is reportedly ambitious to become a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere. He is likely to push for a transfer when the window opens.

Kelleher, who joined Liverpool’s academy from Ringmahon Rangers at 16, is under contract until 2026. Liverpool will seek a fee of around £20 million for him.

While no specific clubs are mentioned as interested in Kelleher, he was close to moving to Wolves last summer before Klopp blocked the transfer. It seems Slot may not take the same approach, and one of his initial decisions could involve finding a new backup goalkeeper.
