Real Madrid are reportedly interested in acquiring Arsenal star William Saliba this summer. The French defender, who has been consistently impressive at the Emirates, is also being monitored by several European giants.

According to Caught Offside, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are all keeping an eye on Saliba. The 23-year-old has been a key player for Mikel Arteta’s team this season, contributing to Arsenal’s 20 clean sheets in 49 matches across all competitions and adding two goals and one assist. Saliba has formed one of the Premier League’s strongest center-back partnerships with Gabriel Magalhaes.

Real Madrid are looking to sign a central defender this summer as Nacho Fernandez is set to leave. Saliba, with his speed, aerial prowess, and composure on the ball, fits their requirements perfectly. Carlo Ancelotti reportedly admires the 13-cap France international and has asked Madrid to consider signing Saliba, according to Now Arsenal.

Saliba, who joined Arsenal in July 2019, has three years remaining on his contract. The Gunners are keen to retain him and have set an £80 million (€100 million) price tag to ward off potential suitors. Arsenal are eager for Saliba to extend his stay at the Emirates amid interest from Europe’s elite clubs.

In addition to Saliba, Real Madrid and Arsenal are reportedly both interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutch right-back has drawn attention from Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United.

BILD (via 90min) reports that Frimpong, 23, is inclined to leave the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions this summer. Under Xabi Alonso’s management, Frimpong has had a stellar season, recording 14 goals and 12 assists in 44 matches across all competitions. With a £34 million release clause, he is considered a bargain given his excellent form. Frimpong is expected to decide his future before joining the Netherlands for this summer’s European Championships.

Real Madrid may view Frimpong as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, who is now 32. Despite Carvajal’s solid performances this season, Ancelotti may seek a quicker full-back to complement players like Rodrygo. Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who currently rotates Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu at right-back, might also look for a more dynamic full-back to bolster his squad after a closely contested title race with Manchester City.
