Marca newspaper has revealed Real Madrid’s latest target in the transfer market as they seek to bolster their squad following Kylian Mbappe’s imminent move to Ancelotti’s club.

Kylian Mbappe made an emotional announcement via video, confirming that he will not renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and that his departure at the end of the season is inevitable. He also stated that the match against Toulouse would be his final one at the Parc des Princes stadium.

As Mbappe bids farewell to PSG, Real Madrid celebrates winning the Spanish League and stands on the brink of clinching their 15th Champions League title.

According to Marca, Real Madrid is now eyeing Florian Wirtz, the German midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen, who has excelled in the Bundesliga this season under the guidance of Xabi Alonso.

However, the acquisition of Wirtz is not expected to happen in the upcoming summer transfer window. Instead, it is seen as a strategic move for the 2025/2026 season, as the German player would have to remain at Leverkusen for another season if he wishes to join the illustrious club.

Real Madrid has been monitoring the 21-year-old for some time, especially since his recovery from a cruciate ligament tear in one of his knees in 2022. Despite this setback, Wirtz has demonstrated his talent, physicality, and scoring ability, tallying 18 goals and 19 assists in 46 matches.

At Valdebebas, Wirtz’s potential signing has been compared to that of Bellingham. Real Madrid’s executives, José Ángel Sanchez and Johnny Calafat, are known for their methodical approach, patiently laying the groundwork for signings without rushing the process.

Their strategy involves introducing players to the ethos of Real Madrid and persuading them to wait for the right moment before finalizing deals. This will be followed by negotiations on the financial aspect, where club president Florentino Pérez will play a pivotal role.

Although the relationship with Bayer Leverkusen may not be as strong as that with Borussia Dortmund at the managerial level, there have been successful dealings between the clubs in recent years. Securing Wirtz’s signature will undoubtedly be a challenging and costly endeavor, given his contract with Leverkusen extending until 2027.

Nevertheless, Real Madrid has set their sights on Florian Wirtz for the 2025-2026 season, aiming to bolster their squad with the talented German midfielder.
