Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is unlikely to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, according to David Ornstein. However, there is growing speculation about a potential move to West Ham United.

Amorim, 39, was previously considered the frontrunner to succeed Klopp at Liverpool after Xabi Alonso committed to Bayer Leverkusen. Nonetheless, Ornstein has dismissed the likelihood of him moving to Anfield.

According to reports from The Athletic, West Ham have engaged in discussions with Amorim amid uncertainty surrounding David Moyes’ future at the London Stadium.

Moyes, the former Everton and Manchester United boss, guided West Ham to Europa Conference League success last season, marking their first European trophy since 1965. However, despite their current position in the top half of the Premier League table, Moyes is facing increasing pressure, particularly following a 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Ornstein suggests that West Ham will delay making a decision about Moyes’ future until the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. However, they are exploring alternative options and have initiated talks with Amorim as part of their contingency planning in case Moyes is relieved of his duties.

Although Julen Lopetegui is also reportedly being considered by West Ham, Amorim is said to be their preferred choice.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany previously claimed that Amorim had verbally agreed to join Liverpool this summer. However, Ornstein refutes such reports, indicating that they are inaccurate.

In response to questions about his future, Amorim stated, “No, I can’t guarantee that I will still be at Sporting next season.” He emphasized that Sporting is focused on their future plans and winning trophies. While he acknowledged ongoing discussions about the future, he expressed contentment with his current role at Sporting and stressed his commitment to the club.
