On the other hand, Manchester City believes they can fetch almost double that amount from other interested parties, with Arsenal still expressing interest in acquiring Cancelo.
Despite Arsenal’s previous interest in Cancelo last summer, Manchester City was hesitant to negotiate with a direct title rival. Consequently, Cancelo moved to Barcelona on loan, where he has excelled, registering four goals and four assists in 33 appearances.
Although Arsenal is once again linked with Cancelo, it’s unlikely that a deal will materialize. Manchester City is unlikely to alter their stance on conducting business with Arsenal, as seen in their previous reluctance to negotiate. Additionally, Arsenal’s management is unlikely to justify paying the reported €45-50 million fee for Cancelo, especially considering he will turn 30 in May and may not be considered in his prime for much longer.
Cancelo, who has been praised as “world-class” by Julian Nagelsmann, has expressed his desire to return to Barcelona, which could potentially prompt Manchester City to engage in further negotiations for another loan deal.
However, in our assessment, these speculations are purely hypothetical, and it’s improbable that a deal will materialize during the summer transfer window.
