Mikel Arteta’s team is actively seeking a new striker due to Gabriel Jesus’ struggles in front of goal this season, exploring various potential signings. Among the prospects is Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, while Ivan Toney remains prominently linked to the Emirates Stadium.

Despite these links, Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, has consistently asserted that Toney will not depart in January, emphasizing the club’s focus on securing Premier League survival after a challenging festive period. Toney, an Englishman, is poised to make his comeback against Nottingham Forest on January 20 following a nine-month footballing ban resulting from over 200 betting breaches.

However, despite Toney’s imminent return, Rio Ferdinand advocates for Arsenal to pursue Alexander Isak, a player identified by FootballTransfers as being on Arsenal’s radar. Ferdinand, in his FIVE podcast, expressed a strong recommendation for Arsenal to secure Isak, citing the player’s dynamic performance, particularly against Manchester City.

Addressing concerns about the potential cost, Ferdinand dismisses the idea that Isak would be too expensive for Arsenal. He questions Arsenal’s financial constraints, stating they are grappling with profit and sustainability rules.

Ferdinand suggests there might be a need for Arsenal to sell players before making new acquisitions, creating a potential obstacle to signing Isak.  Isak’s notable achievements include scoring 10 goals in 16 Premier League games this season.

The Swedish international had previously drawn interest from Arsenal during his successful stint at Real Sociedad. However, Newcastle secured his signature, with Gabriel Jesus opting for a move to Manchester City instead.  As of now, Isak’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €47.5 million. Nevertheless, the actual cost of acquiring him is anticipated to exceed this figure significantly.
