According to Sport, Chelsea has dispatched an executive to Brazil in an attempt to sign wonderkid Estevao Willian.
As per Footballwave, the club’s representative is currently in Sao Paulo to activate the £52 million release clause, with a potential overall deal valued at £65 million in the works. PSG’s exit from the competition has opened the door for Chelsea to finalize the signing.
Having demonstrated his skills as a starter for Brazil in the U17 World Cup last year, tallying three goals and three assists in five games, the 16-year-old has already left a mark in the U20s with six goals and three assists this season.
Despite the impending deal, Willian is ineligible to officially join Chelsea until he reaches the age of 18 in 2025. The acquisition of young Brazilian talents appears to be a recurring trend for the club under Todd Boehly’s leadership.
