BREAKING NEWS: According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are looking to ‘take advantage’ of Barcelona’s precarious situation on and off the pitch by ‘offering a blank check’ to one of the La Liga champion’s prized possessions in the hopes of convincing him to move to Stamford Bridge after the player in an interview said he’s willing to move to London. The star player is also said to be unhappy at Barcelona currently and is be tempted by a move to London with Chelsea being one of his preferred options.

Barcelona is six points behind La Liga leaders Girona, who also have a game remaining. This puts a lot of pressure on manager Xavi, especially considering the club’s precarious financial status, which may limit their ability to make future purchases.

Because of the Catalan team’s predicament, Chelsea is reportedly considering making a move to sign some of Barcelona’s young players. El Nacional reports that Blues owner Todd Boehly plans to “seduce” Alejandro Balde either in January or the summer of next year.

Since joining Barcelona as Xavi’s first-choice left-back, Balde has been a revelation, but his team’s poor play has led to criticism for the 20-year-old for the first time in his career.

Due to the Spanish international’s recent benching, there was conjecture that Barcelona would be prepared to pay a high price for Balde because they believed his signing would solve a great deal of their financial problems.

Balde would cost more than €70 million to sign with Barcelona, a sum that Chelsea, who are rumoured to be hoping to sign Balde before their rivals, would “no problem” afford.

Despite the team’s subpar on-field results, the Blues have spent more than €1 billion under Boehly in the last three transfer windows, and their financial strength would make them an appealing offer for any player.

Balde was promised that Chelsea would receive him “with open arms” and that he would be untouchable before Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell, who are both presently injured.

Balde is rumoured to be dissatisfied at Barcelona right now and may be lured to move to London, but Chelsea would need to shell out a significant sum of money to make the transfer happen anytime soon, which could be challenging given their issues with financial fair play.
