Victor Osimhen is expected to sign a new deal with Napoli that will include a release clause that will set a firm price for Chelsea and other interested teams to pay in order to sign the prolific striker.
Osimhen, who has scored 32 goals in Serie A since the beginning of the previous season and drawn interest from the top teams in Europe, is arguably the most exciting forward in football right now.
The 24-year-old is reportedly Chelsea’s top target in January, but after months of talks, reports from Italy indicate Napoli and Osimhen are almost certain to reach an agreement on a new contract.
Osimhen’s current contract is scheduled to expire in 2025, but according to Gianluca di Marzio, his new contract will extend his contract by an additional year and include a “significant” pay increase and—possibly most intriguingly—a release clause worth between €130 and €140 million.
Despite his early dissatisfaction at the beginning of the season, Napoli has always been confident in locking down their talisman striker to a new contract, and an agreement is anticipated to be formalised soon.
