SHOCKING NEWS: Reports coming from Manchester United says that Andre Onana has been told he’s no longer wanted as Manchester United’s no 1. The Glazer are said to be furious with the money wasted on United’s summer signings, nearly all of whom have flopped. He also made a host of costly errors, most notably in the Champions League defeats to Galatasaray and Bayern Munich. And United had identified on of the best goalkeepers in world to replace Onana and will cost man utd £75 million.
Ratcliffe is completing the acquisition of a minority interest in Manchester United, giving him complete control over the team’s transfer window.
The businessman reportedly feels incensed over the money that was squandered on United’s summer signings, almost all of whom have failed.
Ratcliffe will start by listing Onana for sale. The Cameroonian hasn’t performed well since joining from Inter in the summer.
Man Utd’s Onana falls short
After joining Old Trafford for €51 million in the summer, plus an additional €4 million in bonuses from Inter Milan, Onana was expected to become a star.
With the Nerazzurri last season, the 27-year-old had an incredible Champions League season and was instrumental in leading them to the championship game.
As Inter unfortunately lost 1-0 to Man City in the tournament’s final in June, he recorded the most clean sheets of any player, including five in the knockout stages. With the ball at his feet, he was hailed as the world’s greatest goalie.
Onana, though, has had a terrible start to his Manchester United career. In 24 games for United between the Premier League and the Champions League, he has given up 36 goals.
A number of costly mistakes were also committed by him, most notably in the Champions League losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
Ratcliffe’s decision to sell Obama was further influenced by Obama’s attendance at the Africa Cup of Nations in January and the precarious position of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who selected Onana.
Georgi Mamardashvili, the custodian for Valencia, could start in Onana’s place at United.
I am an ardent Manche4ster United supporter since early 1950s. I would rate our present squad to be the worst in my lifetime. The club is a mess from top to bottom. I will continue to support the team, nevertheless, always although I will not always watch the matches as it is too painful. From a financial situation of no debt we have become heavily indebted through numerous transfers of players who have been well short of standards required to play for Manchester united. It is also disappointing to note the poor results of many of the under age youth teams. What was one of the best grounds universally has been allowed to deteriorate and the training complex is dated. The club have appointed a number of Managers in recent years who have championed a style of football which is totally at odds with our tradition , ending with the Alex Ferguson career. The present Manager is living in cloud cuckoo land. None of his over-priced signings have yet been successful and it is going to be difficult to get rid of them because of the inflated transfer fees and grossly overpaid wages. Compare with Man City who usually buy players at a younger age and then sell on a few years later while they have saleable value eg Mahraez, Sane, Sterling. Compare these with Varane, Casemiro. Sancho, Anthony, Mount, Anana are at best worth 50% of purchase price. Will Jim Ratcliffe be able to turn things around.? I have severe doubts with only a 25% stake. As long as the Glazers have a controlling interest I don’t think so. Even to acquire the 25% stake , the deal has repeatedly been put back. The only way I could see a satisfactory solution happening would be if the Quatari deal could be re-instated. I hope I am wrong with my views above but as long as non-football people like the Glazers are in charge, I fear we are in for a future which is likely to go further downhill.
