Liverpool are reportedly making headway in negotiations for a potential transfer move for Sporting Lisbon center-back Goncalo Inacio as they seek a replacement for Virgil van Dijk.
Sources close to the matter have informed CaughtOffside that there is some uncertainty surrounding Van Dijk’s future at Liverpool. As a result, the club has made signing a new central defender one of their top priorities this summer. However, they are also in the market for a new midfielder.
Inacio is currently Liverpool’s top target, and although he has a €60 million release clause at Sporting, CaughtOffside understands that there is increasing optimism that the Portuguese club might be willing to compromise on the fee. The 22-year-old Portugal international is considered a talented player and has been on the radar of other top clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal.
