🚨 DEVASTATING NEWS: Live from Camp Nou, Barcelona veteran duo pick up fresh injuries during AS Monaco clash that will keep them out of commission for over two months. As reported by FOOTBALLWAVE, Barcelona duo Robert Lewandowski and Ilkay Gundogan who picked up knocks against Monaco and were not hundred percent when they left the field will be out of action for almost two months.
Barcelona had a disastrous match yesterday as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to AS Monaco. The teams faced each other in the Joan Gamper Trophy, a traditional match held just before the start of each new season.
This game usually serves as a warm-up for Barcelona to prepare for the new season. However, the Catalans struggled against Monaco, not only losing by a significant margin but also seeing key players suffer injuries.
**Lewandowski and Gundogan Suffer Injuries**
According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski and Ilkay Gundogan both picked up injuries during the match and were not fully fit when they left the field. Hansi Flick had to substitute both players in the second half.
Lewandowski injured his wrist after landing awkwardly following a challenge. Despite being able to play for more than an hour, he appeared to be in pain and had a concerned expression when he was taken off.
Gundogan’s injury was more severe. The German international came on in the second half to replace Pablo Torre in midfield but was forced to leave the game after just 20 minutes due to a blow to the head.
He needed treatment on the pitch for a cut, and a stretcher was brought out, but he managed to walk off under his own power.
At this point, it is unclear how serious the injuries to Gundogan and Lewandowski are, but updates are expected later in the day.
