Manchester United have turned their attention to the Premier League and are now eyeing Nottingham Forest’s Danilo as a potential addition to their squad at Old Trafford.

Midfielders remain a significant priority for Manchester United this summer as they look to strengthen their squad. United are keen to add energy and dynamism to their midfield, and Manuel Ugarte has been a key target throughout the transfer window. However, securing a deal for Ugarte has proven challenging, prompting United to consider alternative options.

Burnley’s Sander Berge has been linked with a move, and the Norwegian midfielder was notably left out of their squad for the game against Luton Town on Monday. Berge, formerly of Sheffield United and admired by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is one name to watch as the transfer window progresses.

**Nottingham Forest’s Danilo on Manchester United’s Radar**

Manchester United have several players in mind, and one of them might already be playing in the Premier League. Reports from Brazil indicate that United are interested in signing Nottingham Forest’s Danilo. According to TNT Sports reporter Rodrigo Fragoso, Danilo’s agent has received inquiries from both United and AC Milan. Although no formal offer has been made yet, Nottingham Forest would be open to selling him for around €40 million (£34 million).

United have had dealings with Nottingham Forest recently, such as the sale of winger Anthony Elanga to Forest last summer. Additionally, goalkeeper Dean Henderson spent time on loan at Forest from United during the 2022-23 season. United may hope these transactions have strengthened their relationship with Forest and could facilitate Danilo’s signing.

**Who is Manchester United Target Danilo?**

Danilo is from Salvador, Brazil, and began his career with Bahia, Jacuipense, and PFC Cajazeiras before being discovered by Palmeiras. Initially joining on loan, Danilo eventually secured a permanent move and became an essential first-team player for Palmeiras. He made over 140 appearances for the club and was instrumental in their two Copa Libertadores victories.

In January 2023, Nottingham Forest signed the 23-year-old, who has since scored six goals in 49 appearances for the club. Danilo played a significant role for Forest last season, starting 20 Premier League games and coming off the bench in another nine, establishing himself as an important player at the City Ground. Former Forest manager Steve Cooper praised Danilo’s potential and contributions, stating to The Athletic, “He is an exciting player; an exciting prospect and somebody I’m trying to manage carefully in terms of the exposure we give him. That means we must play him as well when we feel it’s right for him. You want a quick impact when you sign a player, but sometimes when young players come to clubs, it can be months before they even get a game. We are really happy with him.”

Danilo is known for his dynamic, all-action style in midfield and has expressed admiration for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté, modeling his game in part after the Frenchman. Danilo told Goal, “Kanté is a different player because of what he does on the field: he’ll run, get the ball and come back, he never tires. He is one of the players I watch most at Chelsea and the one who inspires me most.”

While Danilo is not yet a finished product, Manchester United may see potential in him to develop within Erik ten Hag’s midfield for the future.
