Manchester United has finalized an agreement to sign Leny Yoro after he completed the first part of his medical, according to Fabrizio Romano. This transfer is seen as a significant achievement for the Red Devils, especially since Yoro initially wanted to join his dream club, Real Madrid. However, Manchester United’s persistence has paid off.

Real Madrid was hesitant to invest heavily in the young Lille defender, which opened the door for Manchester United to step in last week with a substantial offer. They proposed €50 million upfront and €12 million in potential add-ons, with some reports suggesting the total deal could reach €70 million.

Lille quickly accepted the bid, eager to sell Yoro before his contract expires next summer. Real Madrid had hoped to negotiate a lower fee or wait for Yoro to run down his contract and join them for free next year. However, this strategy has backfired.

Yoro has now agreed to join Manchester United. On Tuesday evening, he consented to the transfer and flew to Manchester for his medical, completing the first part on Wednesday. Fabrizio Romano reports that Yoro has passed this initial medical phase, and the deal is now nearly complete, pending his final signature and a second round of medical tests.

Romano has confirmed the transfer with his signature “here we go,” indicating that the move is almost official. Yoro is set to sign a contract with Manchester United until 2029, with an option for a one-year extension. Despite the high cost, Manchester United has secured one of Europe’s most promising young defenders, who has already proven himself as a starting center-back in a top European league at just 17 years old.
