Mail Sport previously reported that Enzo Maresca’s team had been closely monitoring Barcelona forward Guiu, with competition from Bayern Munich for his signature. Chelsea reportedly triggered a release clause of just €6 million (£5 million) to initiate discussions with the player.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, the negotiations were successful, and Guiu passed his medical at Stamford Bridge, with an official unveiling expected soon. Guiu is said to have signed a six-year deal with Chelsea, which will last until June 30, 2030.

Once the deal is officially confirmed, the Spaniard will become Chelsea’s second signing of the summer, following the free transfer of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham. A product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Guiu had a breakthrough season with the Catalan club last year.

After being named on the bench against Granada in October, Guiu made his senior debut the following week, coming off the bench in the closing stages of a match against Athletic Bilbao. With the game level at 0-0, Guiu scored the winner just 33 seconds after being introduced, making him the youngest player to score for Barcelona on his debut in LaLiga this century at 17 years and 291 days.

Guiu went on to make a total of eight appearances in all competitions for Barcelona’s first team last season, including netting in a Champions League group stage defeat to Royal Antwerp in December.
