Chelsea have announced the signing of Willian Estevao from Brazilian club Palmeiras for an estimated transfer fee of €61 million. Known by the nickname ‘Messinho,’ Estevao will join Chelsea once he turns 18 next summer, with the club paying €34 million upfront.

While the exact details of the 17-year-old’s contract with Chelsea remain undisclosed, reports suggest he will sign a nine-year deal extending until 2033. Chelsea confirmed the transfer on their official website, stating, “Chelsea Football Club has agreed a deal to sign teenage forward Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, with the Brazilian to officially join Chelsea next summer.”

Fabrizio Romano reported that the deal’s total value will be €61 million, exceeding Estevao’s release clause. Romano detailed that the transfer’s structure heavily relies on bonus payments. Chelsea’s strategy ensures they are not immediately out of pocket and will pay the full amount only if Estevao reaches his potential. The upfront payment is €34 million, with an additional €6 million contingent on his appearances for Palmeiras. Another €17 million depends on him becoming a “multi-season starter” at Chelsea, and there are €4 million in challenging add-ons, including a specific Ballon d’Or bonus.

Willian Estevao is the latest young talent to join Chelsea, following the club’s recent efforts to secure top young Brazilian players. He will join the ranks of Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington, and Angelo Gabriel at the club. Additionally, Chelsea is working on a deal to bring Aston Villa youngster Omari Kellyman to the club, with the transfer expected to exceed €20 million, continuing their strategy of recruiting promising young players.
