BREAKING NEWS: live from Stamford bridge, Chelsea legend tells club to bench Flop against Nottingham forest if the want to emerge victorious at home soil on Sunday. He said, “Starting him against Nottingham Forest is an absolute joke! This is the only team that’s managed to beat a solid Liverpool in the Premier League this season, and you’re telling me we’re risking our 3 points with this guy? If Chelsea wants to win, he MUST be replaced—no question about it. His inconsistency has cost us before, and it WILL cost us again. He has no place in that lineup, not in a game this crucial.

Chris Sutton has predicted that Chelsea will come out on top in their Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, October 6. However, he doesn’t believe the Blues will keep a clean sheet.

Chelsea have had an impressive start to the 2024-25 season, despite initial uncertainty surrounding new manager Enzo Maresca, who was appointed over the summer. Under Maresca’s guidance, the Blues have displayed strong form and currently sit fourth in the league standings with four wins, just two points off the top. Sutton is confident that Chelsea will continue their strong run at home against Nottingham Forest.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton said:

“Chelsea are a lot easier to predict this season. I may not always get their scores right, but I’ve had more success predicting their results. As a former Chelsea player, I feel a connection with the current squad, just like I did with the team I played for.”

He also mentioned his struggle with predicting Nottingham Forest’s games, adding:

“Unfortunately, Nottingham Forest have let me down this season. I thought they would get something from their game against Fulham last week, but they didn’t. I won’t be making that mistake again.”

Sutton reserved particular praise for Chelsea’s in-form star Cole Palmer:

“Cole Palmer is absolutely on fire right now. It feels like Manchester City made a huge mistake letting him go. He plays with such ease, and it seems like he’s always about to score. It’s a joy to watch him. While I think Forest might sneak a goal, because I’m not entirely convinced by Chelsea’s defense, I still believe this will be a home win.”

Sutton’s prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Nottingham Forest.

Similarly, Alan Shearer has also backed Chelsea to take all three points against Forest. He emphasized Chelsea’s current form and Forest’s recent disappointing result, a 1-0 defeat to Fulham, as key factors in his prediction. Shearer echoed Sutton’s admiration for Cole Palmer, who has been in exceptional form this season.

Palmer has continued his stellar performances, building on last season’s total of 27 goals and 15 assists. This term, he has already contributed six goals and four assists in just six league matches. He was the standout performer in Chelsea’s 4-2 win against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, scoring all four of his team’s goals in the first half and setting a new record in the process.

In his predictions for the weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Shearer told Metro:

“Chelsea are absolutely flying right now. Forest, on the other hand, had a poor result at home against Fulham and will want to bounce back. But with the form Chelsea are in, and especially with Cole Palmer playing the way he is, I’d have to say Chelsea will win again.”

Both Sutton and Shearer are confident that Chelsea will extend their winning streak, with Sutton predicting a 2-1 scoreline in favor of the Blues. Despite Forest’s potential to grab a goal, the consensus is that Chelsea, with Palmer leading the charge, will continue their impressive start to the season.
