Following his incredible double save against Atalanta, David Raya made some statements that have fans buzzing about his performance.

Michael Arteta’s squad embarked on a journey to Bergamo on Thursday in order to kick off their Champions League campaign with a match against Atalanta, the reigning champions of the Europa League, at the Gewiss Stadium.

Arsenal was unable to break through Atalanta’s strong defence, which resulted in the match being predominantly uneventful.

Following a foul committed by Thomas Partey on Ederson within the penalty area, Atalanta was given a penalty kick in the second half. While Mateo Retegui was the one to take the penalty, David Raya was able to save both his shot and the rebound with great skill.

Following the conclusion of the game, Raya made the following statement: “It was just a penalty, and I was fortunate to dive the right way.” Although it was unfortunate that the rebound went right to him, I was able to get up and save it after it had already been taken by him. Keeping a clean sheet and contributing to the team’s success by securing at least one point is an incredible result.

On social media, his followers responded to his words, with one of them remarking, “I wouldn’t call anticipation luck; he showed fantastic instinctive goalkeeping.” Someone else tweeted, “Wonderfully modest. May the Lord bless you. An additional third person chimed in, saying, “What a man, brilliant saves, but still think it’s luck!” Another individual made the observation, “Humility at its finest.”
