Branthwaite has emerged as United’s primary defensive transfer target, especially with Everton facing financial difficulties that may force them to sell their prized asset.
Everton reportedly values Branthwaite at £70 million (€83 million), and United will begin fee negotiations after securing a contract with the 21-year-old worth around £150,000 to £160,000 per week, according to The Times.
United’s transfer activities have intensified following the confirmation that Erik ten Hag will continue as manager next season, based on an end-of-season review. The club has been particularly impressed with Branthwaite, who, standing at 6 feet 5 inches, was a key figure in Everton’s defense, which allowed the fourth-fewest goals last season.
