Liverpool suffered another injury setback as Ibrahima Konate was forced off the field at half-time in their match against Brighton due to what appeared to be an arm injury. The defender was helped off the pitch by two members of Liverpool’s medical team, visibly in pain as he used his shirt as an improvised sling.

As the players exited the field for the break, Konate received treatment, struggling to get to his feet before slowly heading down the Anfield tunnel. He did not return for the second half, with Joe Gomez—who had been spotted warming up intensely during the interval—coming on in his place.

The injury occurred when Konate slipped and landed awkwardly while attempting to make a play on a Liverpool corner, ending his game prematurely. Footage showed him wincing in pain and close to tears as he was assisted to the sideline, marking a significant concern for head coach Arne Slot.

This adds to Slot’s injury woes, with key players Alisson, Diogo Jota, and Federico Chiesa already sidelined until after the upcoming international break. Now, Konate’s participation in the Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday is uncertain, with the defender set to undergo scans to assess the severity of his injury.

The exact nature of Konate’s injury hasn’t been officially disclosed yet. The 25-year-old, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021, has been a regular starter this season, missing only one Premier League game.
