Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has suggested that Liverpool are determined to keep Mohamed Salah at the club despite growing speculation about his future. Salah, now in the final year of his contract, hinted after the recent match against Manchester United that this season could be his last with the Reds. However, Liverpool is eager to extend his stay at Anfield, even amid persistent rumors linking the Egyptian forward to a potential move to Saudi Arabia.
Salah has been in top form this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists in six Premier League matches, helping Liverpool rise to the top of the table. Speaking to Football Insider, Brown emphasized how crucial Salah is to the team and revealed that Liverpool are prepared to “break the bank” to retain him.
“I think Liverpool will break the bank in their efforts to keep him,” Brown said. “Among all the left-footed players who operate on the right wing, he is by far the best. Liverpool without Mo Salah are not the same team. He has the ability to change a game in an instant. When the team is struggling, they can always rely on him to make something happen. He’s essential to how Liverpool play.”
Brown also expressed that Liverpool would be desperate to secure Salah’s future at the club, and they are likely working hard to extend his contract before allowing him to leave for free or be tempted by offers from Saudi Arabia.
Given Salah’s importance, Liverpool cannot afford to let him depart. As one of the best players in the world, replacing someone of his caliber would be incredibly difficult. The Merseyside club would struggle to find a better player for that position, and it makes little sense to let him go when they already have a proven game-changer in their ranks.
Under manager Arne Slot, Salah has been thriving, and he appears to be enjoying his football. While many attackers tend to decline after the age of 30, Salah, now 32, has shown no signs of slowing down, continuing to deliver at the highest level.
