Referee Anthony Taylor had his hands full at the Vitality Stadium, handing out yellow cards to both players and managers in what turned out to be a physically intense match. A total of 25 fouls were committed between the two teams, with numerous players from both sides booked throughout the game.

According to journalist Kieran Gill, Chelsea was fined for the misconduct of their players, eight of whom were cautioned during the match. The Blues’ players who saw yellow included Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, Renato Veiga, Nicolas Jackson, Joao Felix, and Jadon Sancho.

This game set another negative milestone for Chelsea, who now hold the record for the most bookings in the 2023-24 Premier League season. Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, and Bournemouth’s head coach, Andoni Iraola, were also booked during the match. Maresca is now on the verge of a one-game touchline ban, just one more caution away from the suspension.

Bournemouth, like Chelsea, will also be fined £25,000, as six of their players were booked during the match. This latest episode broke the previous record of 13 bookings in a Premier League match, which occurred last season in a game between Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United.
