Liverpool are reportedly interested in acquiring 29-year-old Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich this summer. However, they will face stiff competition for his signature from Barcelona, Manchester City, and Arsenal.

According to Tutto Juve, Kimmich is open to leaving the German giants. With new manager Arne Slot aiming to strengthen Liverpool’s midfield in the transfer window, a move for Kimmich seems increasingly likely. Following the departure of Jurgen Klopp, the new manager is being supported by the club to make new signings and implement changes to the squad. Despite last summer’s investment in midfielders after the exits of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Liverpool are prepared to add another midfielder this summer.

The arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo have bolstered Liverpool’s midfield depth, but the club still seeks a player who can operate at the base of the midfield, just in front of the defense. They see Kimmich as the ideal candidate to provide balance and versatility, as he is also capable of playing as a right-back.

Kimmich could be a perfect signing for Liverpool, allowing them to rotate between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kimmich in midfield and full-back positions. This would give the team more fluidity and the manager more tactical options. However, Liverpool will have to contend with interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, while former Bayern manager Hansi Flick is eager to reunite with Kimmich at Barcelona.

Signing Kimmich would bring a winning mentality and valuable experience to Liverpool, especially important following Klopp’s departure. As Kimmich’s contract expires next summer, he is expected to be available at a reduced price.
