Liverpool are planning a player-plus-cash deal to secure Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. According to Teamtalk, the Reds are preparing a £50 million offer, plus goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, to bring the English winger to Anfield.

Under manager Arne Slot, Liverpool are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window. Slot, supported by the club, aims to make significant changes to the squad, addressing various positions, including attack and defense. Gordon has emerged as a key target for Liverpool, particularly as Newcastle United faces the necessity to sell players to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The Magpies have already agreed to let Yankuba Minteh move to Brighton, freeing up funds to meet financial regulations. Gordon might also be part of this strategy, with Liverpool keen on acquiring his services. Currently on international duty with the England squad for the Euros, Gordon has impressed manager Gareth Southgate after a stellar season in the Premier League. He contributed to 21 goals in the 2023-24 season, scoring 11 and providing 10 assists.

Gordon is reportedly open to joining Liverpool, despite their fierce rivalry with his former team, Everton. Liverpool’s proposed deal values Kelleher between £25 million and £35 million, making the total package worth approximately £75 million to £85 million. While Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is determined to keep the pacey winger, the club’s need for a new goalkeeper to challenge first-choice Nick Pope might make the inclusion of Kelleher in the deal appealing. This potential transfer could be beneficial for all parties involved, though Newcastle would undoubtedly feel the loss of a player of Gordon’s quality.
