Chelsea have offered Nico Williams a more lucrative financial package than Arsenal. The two London clubs are vying for the Athletic Bilbao winger, who has impressed at Euro 2024 with the Spain national team.

According to AS, both Chelsea and Arsenal are willing to meet Williams’ €58 million release clause to secure his transfer this summer. However, Chelsea have proposed a significantly better salary, willing to triple his current earnings and pay him €15 million annually. In contrast, Arsenal are hesitant to match such a high wage and are reassessing their options.

Williams is among the most sought-after players in Europe this summer, attracting interest from top clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid. His standout performances at Euro 2024, particularly in victories over Croatia, Italy, and Georgia, have caught the eye. Against the former champions Italy, Williams outplayed right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo and assisted in the winning goal, which was an own goal by Riccardo Calafiori. He also netted a spectacular goal in the last-16 win over Georgia.

The 21-year-old Williams, known for his incredible speed and dribbling abilities, has a €58 million release clause in his contract at Athletic Bilbao. Since debuting for Athletic in 2021, he has scored 20 goals in 122 appearances. Internationally, he has netted three goals in 17 games for Spain and was part of the squad for the 2022 World Cup. His brother, Inaki Williams, is also an Athletic Bilbao star and represents Ghana at the international level.

Williams is set to play again on Friday as Spain faces Germany in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals.
