BREAKING NEWS: Coming live from Fabrizio Romano, IT’S HAPPENING’ Real Madrid have agreed to sell Rodrygo to Liverpool after club agreed to meet to Real Madrid asking price of £100m.
Liverpool are aware that they will need to break their current transfer record to secure one of their summer targets. New manager Arne Slot aims to build upon the foundation established by Jurgen Klopp and is actively pursuing new talent to compete for trophies next season.
Despite finishing third in the Premier League and experiencing a disappointing Europa League campaign last season, Liverpool are focused on strengthening their attacking lineup. According to Spanish source Sport, one of their primary targets is Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City have shown interest in the 23-year-old Brazilian. Liverpool were reportedly prepared to bid £100 million for Rodrygo if he had expressed a desire to leave Real Madrid. Rodrygo scored ten goals in La Liga and five in the Champions League last season, playing a crucial role in Real Madrid’s successes in both competitions.
Rodrygo’s versatility, being able to play as both a striker and a winger, has caught Liverpool’s attention. However, Real Madrid are believed to value Rodrygo at €150 million (£127 million), a figure that surpasses Liverpool’s current transfer record and would make Rodrygo the most expensive signing by a Premier League club.
Given this high valuation, it is unlikely that Liverpool will meet Real Madrid’s demands. As a result, they may need to explore more affordable options that align with Slot’s strategic approach. Slot is looking to replicate Klopp’s success at Anfield and will require new signings to achieve this goal.
