Real Madrid’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe has encountered an obstacle. Despite being the frontrunners to secure the 25-year-old’s signature as he prepares to depart Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract, negotiations have hit a snag.

Reports from Marca suggest that Real Madrid is facing difficulties with Mbappe’s agent and mother, Fayza Lamari, who is adamant about securing favorable terms for herself and Mbappe. While Mbappe is willing to compromise as he deliberates on his future, negotiations have reached an impasse.

The parties involved seem to be “far apart” in reaching an agreement, potentially posing a significant hurdle. Mbappe’s reported demands of a staggering £60 million annual salary and an eye-popping signing-on bonus of £107 million have complicated matters. Although Mbappe has expressed interest in joining Real Madrid for years, he famously opted to remain at PSG in 2022, signing a two-year extension with an option for a further 12 months. However, he has since indicated his intention not to renew his contract.

In an effort to secure Mbappe’s services without facing last-minute setbacks, Real Madrid has reportedly offered him an annual salary of £30 million and seeks “written guarantees.” Meanwhile, PSG is making efforts to persuade their star player to stay, offering him an astonishing £86 million per season.

While Mbappe’s wage demands are hindering his potential move to Madrid, neither Arsenal nor Liverpool are looking to swoop in with a sensational hijack due to concerns about breaking their wage structures.

Despite his contractual uncertainties, Mbappe has maintained impressive form on the pitch, scoring 30 goals in 29 appearances this season. However, he was sidelined as an unused substitute in PSG’s recent victory over Lille due to an ankle injury sustained in a previous match against Brest. PSG manager Luis Enrique clarified that Mbappe’s absence was precautionary and affirmed his physical well-being.

As Mbappe deliberates over his future, PSG remains hopeful that he will return to the starting lineup for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Real Sociedad. Enrique disclosed that Mbappe has yet to communicate his decision regarding his future with the club, leaving his intentions uncertain.
