DEVASTATING NEWS: coming from Fabrizio Romano concerning Liverpool star player. The dad of Liverpool attacker says his son won’t be playing for Liverpool next season.
Liverpool's alleged pursuit of Florian Wirtz, a forward for Bayer Leverkusen, appears to have taken a hit.
Prior to the summer transfer window of the following year, Wirtz is rumoured to be on Liverpool’s shortlist. A move was already approved in January.
But the father of the 20-year-old has now come clean and said that he thinks his son will stay at Leverkusen until 2025. In remarks obtained by German journalist Florian Plettenberg on X, Hans-Joachim Wirtz put a stop to any discussions about transfers for 2024.
According to Wirtz senior, Florian’s agent, “everything is currently geared towards Florian continuing to play in Leverkusen next season.”
Plettenberg continues, adding a little more colour, saying that the Germany international’s stay at Leverkusen for 2024–2025 is now “likely.”
The journalist then claims that Wirtz is wanted by Bayern Munich and that he “prefers” to play for the Bundesliga winners.
Wirtz intends to remain in Leverkusen
This is a pretty audacious and possibly unexpected statement from Wirtz’s father.
The young player has been linked to numerous elite teams recently after being one of the best players on a Leverkusen team that is on the rise.
