EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Fabrizio Romano reports latest News surrounding osimhen. ” I can’t continue to stay in a club where I’m not loved when we win I’m the main man I’m the stat when we lose I’m a black Nigerian man I have to leave. Arsenal is a big club I respect them but I would rather join Chelsea and that’s my possible destination”. Osimhen chooses Chelsea ahead of arsenal.
Club President Aurelio de Laurentiis says Victor Osimhen is about to sign a new contract with Napoli.
One of the biggest transfer stories of 2024 may come to an end with a casual comment made by the president of Napoli at the Campania Felix award—and we’re still in 2023. Victor Osimhen is set to extend his contract with the defending Serie A champions, the club president has announced.
“For Osimhen, we are about to sign the contract that has been pending since the summer,” De Laurentiis stated. To some extent, the announcement is unexpected. Various reports claim that because of the deterioration in their relationship, negotiations between Osimhen and his club have been on hold.
In addition to losing coach Rudi Garcia and not being able to reclaim their title-winning form, Osimhen has been at the centre of controversy off the pitch, threatening to sue the team for offensive posts on TikTok. The announcement of his impending signing coincides with increased interest from teams like Chelsea and Arsenal in his services.
Is a summer move still feasible?
Osimhen had never been expected to move in January, even though there were rumours Chelsea would try their best. The interest in him will probably continue to grow in the summer and the extension won’t stop the rumours about his future.
It does, however, mean that Napoli has been able to reaffirm their advantageous position in any future transfer talks. His soon-to-be former contract was set to expire in 2025, so if the Serie A winners couldn’t come to an agreement on new terms, they would have had to sell in 2024.
However, Napoli is relieved of some of the pressure as a result of the extension, and it also gives them permission to demand a higher price, as they did last summer. Osimhen would have probably moved for a British record fee even on his previous contract; however, on his new contract, it is difficult to predict the amount of money Napoli will demand in exchange for his services.
