The French player’s contract at his boyhood club expires in the summer of 2025, and the English clubs may be able to take advantage of Lyon’s current difficulties as well as both of those circumstances to lure the star to the Premier League.
Cherki has always been seen as a future star; at just 20 years old, he has already made 112 appearances for Lyon in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and dishing out 17 assists.
The midfielder will soon make the transition to the first team as he plays regularly for Thierry Henry’s France Under-21 squad.
Cherki’s signing would be a major coup for either Manchester United or Newcastle, but the young player still has a ways to go before he plays in the Premier League.
